Sir Alex Ferguson đã gửi những lời chúc tốt đẹp nhất đến tân thuyền trưởng MU, Erik ten Hag trước chiến lược gia Hà Lan đến Old Trafford vào ngày 1/7.
Erik ten Hag được chính thức công bố là tân thuyền trưởng MU vào thứ Năm tuần trước. Ông sẽ rời Ajax để thay thế Ralf Rangnick tại Old Trafford vào cuối mùa giải.
MU đã không giành được bất cứ danh hiệu nào trong 5 năm qua. Quỷ đỏ cũng chưa một lần trở lại ngôi vương Premier League, kể từ khi nhà cầm quân vĩ đại, Alex Ferguson tuyên bố giải nghệ vào 2013.
Phát biểu với RTE Racing về việc MU bổ nhiệm Erik ten Hag, Sir Alex nói: “Tôi hy vọng Erik ten Hag sẽ làm tốt. MU cần một nhà cầm quân có thể kiểm soát đội. Tôi hy vọng anh ấy sẽ làm tốt”.
Ten Hag giành được 5 danh hiệu quốc nội cùng Ajax và đang hướng đến chức VĐQG Hà Lan tiếp theo ở mùa giải này trong bốn năm rưỡi gắn bó với CLB, sẽ trở thành HLV dài hạn thứ 5 kể từ khi Sir Alex nghỉ hưu, sau David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho và Solskjaer.
Sir Alex trước đó được cho thích Pochettino dẫn dắt MU hơn. Tuy nhiên, những ông chủ MU và GĐĐH Richard Arnold tin rằng, Erik ten Hag là lựa chọn tốt hơn cả.
MU nhiều khả năng lỡ hẹn vé dự Cúp C1 mùa tới, khi hiện đứng thứ 6 BXH Premier League với 54 điểm, kém đội thứ 4 là Arsenal 6 điểm
