Theo chuyên gia chuyển nhượng Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen đã đạt thỏa thuận chiêu mộ Malik Tillman từ PSV Eindhoven với mức phí khoảng 35–40 triệu euro.
Tillman gia nhập PSV từ Bayern Munich hồi tháng 8/2023 dưới dạng cho mượn, trước khi đội bóng Hà Lan kích hoạt điều khoản mua đứt. Anh đã bùng nổ trong màu áo PSV với 25 bàn thắng và 19 kiến tạo sau 74 trận trên mọi đấu trường (riêng Eredivisie có 21 bàn). Việc Leverkusen vừa để Florian Wirtz sang Liverpool khiến họ rất cần một tiền vệ tấn công chất lượng, và Tillman - cầu thủ từng được Arsenal săn đón gắt gao - được xem là lựa chọn phù hợp.

Bayer Leverkusen đã đạt được thỏa thuận miệng với tất cả các bên để chiêu mộ Malik Tillman – tiền vệ kiến thiết của đội tuyển Mỹ – nhằm thay thế Florian Wirtz.
Mức phí chuyển nhượng rơi vào khoảng 35–40 triệu euro cho toàn bộ gói thương vụ. Tillman đã đồng ý các điều khoản dài hạn với Leverkusen và các thủ tục chính thức sẽ được hoàn tất trong thời gian tới.
FC Bayern vẫn giữ điều khoản mua lại, nhưng Bayer Leverkusen hiện coi thỏa thuận miệng này đã hoàn tất và sẽ sớm đón Tillman gia nhập đội hình."
Đây là bước tiến lớn trong sự nghiệp của Tillman khi được thi đấu tại Champions League mùa tới cùng Leverkusen. Vào lúc này, cầu thủ 23 tuổi đang tập trung cùng đội tuyển Mỹ tham dự Gold Cup, nơi anh đã ghi 3 bàn đầu tiên cho USMNT ngay vòng bảng.
